The 2025 King Island Golf Tour will mark my sixth hosted tour to King Island. We’ve made some exciting changes to the itinerary based on past players feedback, I am excited as ever to deliver this tour that will showcase the very best that King Island has to offer.
After meeting the friendly locals last year, and sharing a yarn or two with them about the historical significance of King Island, this tour has been made with a purpose to not only celebrate what I truly believe is Australia’s best golf-experience, but also to celebrate the food, the culture and the down-to-earth country hospitality of King Island.
As we have seen with all of our previous King Island Golf Tours, due to plane & accommodation capacity, this tour will sell out quick, so if the itinerary and inclusions tick all your boxes then don’t delay - either give me a call or book online today.
I look forward to welcoming you to King Island for the ultimate golfing adventure.
Golf Journeys has arranged airfares for this tour, beginning in either Essendon - Melbourne or Launceston - Tasmania.
Upon arrival you will be transfered to your accommodation at Cape Wickham.
Stylishly appointed, the rooms at Cape Wickham provide an elegant accommodation option for golfers wishing to stay on site at the golf course. With views of the course and Victoria cove. The spacious rooms come complete with a veranda to watch the sun dip over the horizon best enjoyed with your favourite beverage in hand and a block of King Island cheese to match.
Tonight, you will also enjoy a culinary feast of King Island’s delicacies. This 4 course meal matched with local Tasmanian wines provides the perfect start to a week of golf and fun.
Having hosted groups to King Island since it first opened and have returned back many times since.
When asked “What’s your favourite hole”, there is honestly no easy answer, there are just too many great holes to single one out. It’s pure links golf, as nature intended, and we won’t be surprised when this course makes its way into the top 10 in the world. Our advice for todays round is to enjoy every shot, the good and the bad, it’s a magical experience that only a privileged few have yet enjoyed.
Now ranked as the #1 Golf Course in Australia, there is no better time than now to experience the thrill of golf at Cape Wickham.
Following your breakfast, you’ll transfer this morning to Ocean Dunes approx. 45 mins from Cape Wickham.
Fortune favours the brave on this course. Heroic tee shots will set you up nicely for your approach, but a miss hit here or there and you’ll be needing to restock on golf balls at the pro shop. There’s some real cracking holes which rival some of the best in the world, so take your time to soak it all in and enjoy the experience.
After your round, you’ll be taken to Autralia’s #1 fine dining restaurant. Golf Journeys has arranged a special menu for our group to enjoy and for the wine lovers in the group, there’s a lovely selection you may wish to choose from the walk-in cellar.
After breakfast, we set out to explore King Island’s rich history and stunning natural beauty. Our first stop is the Cape Wickham lighthouse, which stands tall as the tallest lighthouse in Australia. Here, we learn about the two worst maritime disasters in Australian history that occurred off the coast of King Island, adding depth and context to the island’s captivating story.
Next, we visit Disappointment Bay, named after the tragic wreck of the Neva, which we delve into to understand the somber significance behind the name. Despite its name, Disappointment Bay is anything but a disappointment, with breathtaking views of one of King Island’s most spectacular bays.
Our journey then takes us to the Martha Lavinia reserve, a Ramsar site of international importance. This reserve boasts the iconic Martha Lavinia beach, one of Australia’s top surfing locations, and a haven for fishing enthusiasts.
As we make our way towards Currie, we witness King Island’s largest industry, the beef industry, in full swing. We’ll take a stop here to indulge in one of the island’s delicacies, a tasting at King Island Dairy.
After we’ve sampled some of the Islands delicacies, we will continue onto Heidi’s King Island Distillery to stock up on some ‘birdie’ juice ahead of today’s round.
Don’t worry, it won’t affect your swing (or at least we hope not!). After sampling the distillery’s range of Whisky, Gin, Vodka & Brandy, you’ll be ready to tackle the islands 9 hole golf course - King Island Golf Club. Who knows, maybe that extra kick will even help you improve your score.
Following your tour and tastings of the island, this afternoon you’ll get to enjoy the local members course of King Island Golf Club. This 9-hole course has been consistently ranked as the Southern Hemisphere’s top 9-hole course and is a real hidden gem of a course.
For today’s round we have also invited some of the local members to join our group - which is sure to make for a fun day out.
After a thrilling round of golf, unwind and connect with the friendly locals in the welcoming King Island Clubhouse, complete with stunning vistas of the course and roaring southern ocean. The evening promises to be a celebration of your golfing achievements, with awards presented to the overall & daily winners. Indulge in a hearty meal, featuring the island’s freshest produce, as you bask in the glow of new found friendships and cherish the memories made during this unforgettable journey.
This morning you’ll get to enjoy breakfast and can opt to spend your morning relaxing or, if you take our advice, you’re better off spending spend it playing golf at Australia’s best golf course - Cape Wickham!
Golf Journeys has arranged an early 8am tee off for any golfers on tour that wish to have a second crack at Cape Wickham. Your hosts will also look after your check out for you, meaning you can just focus on your swing and having fun on one of the best links experiences in the world.
Following your round of golf you’ll have time to enjoy lunch before we depart to King Island Airport for your return flight home.
